We honor those who came before us, those who share this planet with us, and those who are still to come.
Our office is located on the ancestral lands of the Susquehanna, the Nanticoke, and the Piscataway. These Indigenous peoples were the ancient caretakers of this place we now call Towson, Baltimore County, Maryland. We acknowledge their suffering at the hands of colonial forces. Additionally, we recognize the enslaved Africans who worked this land, who lived and died on this land, but did not profit from their labor. We affirm that Indigenous and African people were the original victims of systemic and systematic racism in the United States.
We pay tribute to the historic community of East Towson, located about one mile southwest of our offices. We honor the emancipated Black people and their descendants who built, created families, and loved in this community. East Towson Psychological Services is named in homage to these residents who paved the way for us to exist as healers and professionals in this physical and temporal space. We seek to honor these ancestors by providing psychological and emotional healing to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color of all sexualities and gender expressions. We sincerely hope that our work is a tribute their memory.
